Drabble: It Seems I'm Floating in the Darkness (Kate/Sawyer)

Title: It Seems I'm Floating in the Darkness

Summary: Idiot. It’s the first thing she thinks when he hits the water.
Disclaimer: I do not own Lost. At all. I wish but alas...
Author's Note: Set during 'There's No Place Like Home Part II'.

Idiot. It’s the first thing she thinks when he hits the water.

Please, please, please. She repeats it to herself until he resurfaces.

Be safe, stay alive, if anyone can, you can. I know that. I know you. The words echo in her mind as she closes her eyes and a tear rolls down her face.

Jack tells her they’ll go back for him. No, we won’t. We can’t.

It’s okay. It’s okay. I’m okay. She lies to herself as the helicopter barrels on. Nothing is okay.

But then, when come in to land, her only thought is, Thank you.

It's sad that the first line of this is SO damn true. Just...perfect.

I love the progression of this, where she goes from anger to hope to fear to gratefulness.

Thanks, hun. :) I'm sure her thoughts and feelings would have been all over the board after Sawyer jumped off of the helicopter, so I thought it would be neat to explore that. I'm glad you liked it.

I'm feeling very down lately, as I'm sure you know. But I made it to third line without crying. I deserve a cookie. ;)

This was beautiful. Very poignant and spot on and fucking devastating really. I love how even saying thank you, she is aware that things are not OK. Her inner monologue made me think of Jack's compulsive "it's ok, it's ok, it's ok" when actually, nothing was okay.

I think it's marvelous how her thoughts merges with every little action. This is very beautifully written and very, very meaningful. Thank you!

As a Skate and a Kate fan gotta say that with just a few words you totally nail the situation. I am so jealous of you (But the good kind). Great work honey. The last line was very touching. I also love when she thanks him. My favorite part though:
