So there you go. I'm in a minority on LJ since I'm not a fan of Jack, Kate or Sawyer and they tend to dominate Lost fics. But if you can rec me any good fics with Charlie, Des, Sayid, Penny or Hurley, I always love reading about those characters.

It's hard to pick out which fics to rec, really! The Lost fandom has so many talented and productive writers.

The Belly of a Whale by falafel_fiction is absolutely fantasic. It's an AU and the pairing is Bonnie/Greta/Charlie. The writing and the situation is completely dark and twisted - you're left not knowing what's right and what's wrong any more. Simply fantastic.

It's Been A Long Time Coming by janie_tangerine is exactly what I imagine the reunion between Desmond and Penny would be like.

It Will End on a Note of Sunshine by lenina20 was one of many brilliant fics written for the lost_femmeslash challenge a while ago. It's a lovely, peaceful moment between Claire and Juliet - the kind of future that you'd really want to imagine for the two of them.

The Imposter by pacejunkie makes me flail. A lot. I absolutely adore Ethan (yes, I know I'm strange), and in this fic Pace writes an AU in which Ethan and Charlie were friends on the beach in early S1. The starting and closing sections in first person are fantastic and the entire fic feels so intense.

I was talking to slybrunette the other day about how much I love Present Absence by her. It's a Jack/Kate future fic from the day of Kate's trial. You find yourself wishing as much as Kate does for Jack to appear.

And, finally, Company Man by zelda_zee is still one of the best crossovers I've ever read. Sayid and Mohinder are both so in character and the sex scenes are absolutely scorching.

My very favorites, I guess, the ones that come to mind If I have to make a quick selection of a handful (I'm so forgetting some. I so am) would be:

Because it was the first Lost fic I remember reading and loving and I remember that it was, for me, one of the best fic I'd read in my life. I love each one of the fics written by her, I really do. (It' s Claire, post-season 3 fic)

I think Drowning your sorrows by land and by sea is the best fic elliotsmelliot has written, and that is a lot to say. It's a masterpiece, courageous and beautiful and with a plot that takes your breath away. I remember crying when it was over because I didn't want it to be over, because I needed more. I never felt so much after just reading a final world, really. Amazing, amazing fic.

In the woods Trilogy, by aboutbunnies has one of the best, if not the best, characterization I've ever read in my life, for both Kate and Sawyer. It also shows the deepest understanding possible of their pairing and I do think that it's the best Kate/Sawyer out there. Ever.

Guarding, by halfdutch is a fic I go back from time to time, and even being a fic in which Jack and Kate are married, I love it. And it always comforts me. With very few words, it shows one of the deepest and most complex understandings of Kate I've ever read. It's amazing. And it's gorgeously written.

I love A Silent Kind of Faith. I remember crying when I read it because it was a response to a challenge at lostfichallenge, to write about a character that had passed away, and it wasn't too long after Charlie. I agree, it is one of the finest fics I have ever read.

Guardian is so rich in detail about Kate, and what's she's been through, and how she can't quite let go of her initial distrust even if she's in a situation where she's happy. And halfdutch writing about babies is always something to stand up and take notice of. ;)

It's a hard task, you know, choosing! Nothing new, I think, but here are a few of my favs. They are all Jack/Sawyer.

A a great short little story is The Man Inside by eponine119
It is an amazing and enlightening study of the behaviours of Jack and Sawyer (spoilers up to 3x11, enter77), and how they are two different sides of the same coin.

Then of course elise_509's series The pain I'm used to.

More recently, I loved also Nailed. Post island, Jack and Sawyer meet, but Jack is different. I loved this kind of dark!Jack.

Then, I loved The Mix-Up by halfdutch, where Jack is broken and Sawyer is a hooker

and her "Hand in glove" series - I have a massage kink, so this was awesome for me.

And I didn't forget about your beautiful series A dull, aching pain and the two top 5 kisses fics that were so lovely (Sawyer's top 5 and Jack's top 5).

Man, we have the exact same taste, because I could rec everything you just did as well. Nothing more than uberaeryn's fics though. It's my firm belief that everyone in the Lost fandom should read everything she's ever written. She's that brilliant.

you know, I'm not sure I've ever read "on being God" - I wasn't in fandom when uberaeryn was still writing and therefore I missed a lot of her fics.
I bookmarked it and I'm going to read it as soon as I have some time. :)

Leaving out some favorites of mine which have already been recced..

- First of all, I have to say Revenant by zelda_zee. It's half the reason for which I'm here in the first place. I stumbled upon it a year and some ago and it got me into a shaking mess even if I didn't watch the show. Also by her, the untitled Desmond/Sayid comment porn she had recently because it was just the best thing ever.

- Some of my favorites from elliotsmelliot have already been linked (Drowning your Sorrows and the Desmond/Penny one), but I have to put in To What it Was. Boone + Shannon + Sawyer + Watership Down = one of my favorite fics ever. Yeah, I gave the prompt alright but it only means I love it even more. I almost cried there for how damn good it is.

- Sector Fifteen by toestastegood. I love 1984ish apocalyptic settings and this one is just perfection.

- With a song of love the sea has soothed my heart for life by lenina20 aka the best Shannon I've read lately. It kind of made me cry.

- Beware of the Fangirl by falafel_fiction: nothing short of the best idea ever for a humorous fic ever.

- Bleed Together and Warm Bed by halfdutch: these were two of the first fics (and first Jack/Sawyer) I found in my lurking period and I both love them. The first was Sawyer meeting Jack instead of Christian in the bar in Sydney and in the second they were pushing the button in the hatch (both AU) and I just love them.

- Always by halfdutch, I have to link A Lonely Stretch of Beach (further instructions!Boone/Sawyer) and Therapy (Sam/Boone, crossover with Supernatural) because well, I can't get enough Boone and those two stories were just great.

- Proof by cynthia_arrow. It's very dark Jack/Boone, but excellent. And since it's my very unlucky OTP and it's kind of difficult to find it, its excellence is a plus ;)

- Thicket by bachlava aka the best Sawyer/Desmond which will ever exist in the universe. And also Pollen aka the best Danielle POV I ever read.

- And I'll echo who recced elise_509's series and add Scars and Stitches which is simply wonderful.

Revenant is an incredibly good piece. I have so many favorites of Z's it's really hard to narrow. Revenant is definitely one of them. It really stuck with me after I read it, and it made me think about a lot of things back in Season Three.

Scars and Stitches is, likewise, fantastic. I love all of Laura's series (A Pain That I Am Used To is probably the best, if pressed). Her artist 'verse is awesome. It's amazing how she manages to keep changing the boys up, putting them in different places, and making them different people, but, still, in most ways, the same people that we know.

Possibly the best fic I've ever read isn't on lj and it's not a one-shot (but complete)... it's Sawyer/Ana, but it's pretty much ensemble and I'd say it's epic.

And there are other truly amazing fics (one-shots too) that aren't on lj or even on ff.net, they're on freakin' forums and I can't poke the writers enough to post them somewhere where they will be noticed... some people are way too modest ;]

I miss Kathy. :( She's such a fantastic writer. On Being God is...like I said, it's probably the best Lost fic I've ever read. And her cowboy 'verse is awesome. God. I love her fics so much.

Future fic - Night on Earth by hkath Jack/Sawyer in 2010.

Jack/Sawyer NC17 - Invictus by alliecat8 It's just SO raw and so real.

AU - Fortunate Son by cynthia_arrow Jack and Sawyer set against the backdrop of the Civil Rights Movement in 1968. It works for them and yet is incredibly original.

Sawyer/Kate NC17 - Derelict by philomel and Fly Away by rhawkins24 -- these are both very, very steamy, well written and in character

And I have like 300 Lost fics bookmarked here at del.icio.us and they are all awesome.

Fortunate Son is one of the most intense, well-crafted AUs I have ever read. She took her time with the boys, and man, it pays off, because you really get to live in their heads and see why they think and believe the things that they do. I can't praise that story enough.

The new episode last night interfered with with adding something here. I'm a reader, not a writer, and I'm so glad I found the Lost fic writers here because I've read so many fantastic works. I've been nodding in agreement on a lot of those people have mentioned - the series of elise_509, The Man Inside of eponine119, and others.

Hold by elise_509 is a nearly poetic study of several characters.

Useless Beauty by uberaeryn is Jack/Sawyer and the mystical power of the island haunting them.

Santa Ana Wind by eponine119 - Futurefic where Sawyer finds out he's not the only one remembering Ana. It kind of goes right along with Ana's old partner asking Hurley about her in TBOTE (but she wrote it first).

For those of us who think Jack should have gotten laid the night after he said "I'm Jack," there's Constellations, Jack/Kate, by Yahtzee.

Five Things Jack Shephard Doesn't Regret by amantium_irae (it's a ficlet way down in the comments) helped me make peace with where Jack and Kate are at the end of S3.

And then there are the drabble queens - gottalovev, here (try Jealousy and Of Grief and Stars), and cmonkatiekatie. Love their ficlets.

What a nice idea. Thanks for hosting this at your journal as I now discovered a bunch of stories I didn't know about. Here are some of my favourites.

First, I'm a big fan of your Kate/Jack on and off island series Gone Tomorrow.

If you want to the world to fall apart with only Claire at your side I recommend: At the ends of the earth (Desmond/Claire) by lenina20 and All the Grave diggers are gone (Sawyer/Claire) by super_kc.

Since Thicket was already mentioned, I'll recommend bachlava’s wonderful Jack/Sayid series Tales of Brave Ulysses and Between Rome and Ithaca.

If you want a good cry over Charlie you should read We Share the Night by falafel_fiction.

This was the first Desmond story I found and it always stuck with me: Elevator Music (Jack/Desmond) by cynthia_arrow.

This one by jenthegypsy always makes me crave banana pudding: Hidden Talents (Jack/Sawyer).

It’s hard to choose only one of her fics but I’ll go with my first favourite, a dark post-rescue tale: Living in the Future (Sawyer/Sayid) by janie_tangerine.

They don’t get more epic than eponine119’s Jack/Sawyer historical AU: Ship of Dreams.
