Author's Note: For Queen toestastegood, who asked for crack!pairings. Well...this isn't so much crack as it is UC. And it's really more of a friendship piece than anything. I wish I could have come up with something more imaginitive for you.



Claire believes in good karma. She believes that if you do good things, good will come back to you. Sawyer rolls his eyes when she tells him that. She rolls her eyes back. Their friendship can be tenuous at times, but she’s learned that if she returns his sarcasm with sass, he just smiles and shakes his head at her like he’s so much more worldly than she is.

And maybe he’s right. Maybe the bad things are going to find you no matter what you do in life. Maybe, pushing people away is the only way to truly protect yourself.

She fails to mention, and he chooses to ignore, however, that he has yet to do that with her. That her kindness, even in the face of his gruff exterior, is the reason that they’ve developed the kinship that they have. She thinks there will probably come a day when he will try to force her from his life, to detatch himself from her before she can do so to him.

When it does, she thinks she’ll just smile, and roll her eyes, like she always does.
