It starts as a sharp pain right in the center of her chest and spreads quickly through her veins. It robs her of her ability to speak, this cold fury that makes her ball up her fist and stare at him with disdain and rage.
The pain in her head, the ache in her limbs, have long since healed, and the fear she had once lived in eased just a little more every day. This pain is no better, no worse, than the attack itself, but it's a different kind of pain, the pain that accompanies the betrayal of a friend. It's a kind of pain she doesn’t believe will be healing any day soon.
His confession means something, however little, but she can no longer look at him, no longer hold back her bitter, angry tears. So she storms off, leaving him still apologizing.
Your drabble cut me to the core. It is very powerful, very well done. I hope it will begin the healing process in your heart. *&hearts and tight hugs*
